The first quarter of 2016 has come and gone, and it's been a good one! I wasn't sure what the change in websites would do to our traffic, but after a few weeks it picked right back up and we easily beat the first quarter of last year and had one of our best quarters to date overall.
As you may have noticed, we've been having monthly sales all year where different items are either discounted or ship free in the continental U.S. These sale items change every month, so make sure to check back often.
I've also been taking some higher quality photos of our pieces as we've been building them and shipping them out. We have no inventory on hand and have been building and shipping as quick as we can, so we usually don't have an opportunity to photograph something until someone orders it and we have good weather the day before it ships out. I haven't got around to uploading any of these photos yet, but they should start going up soon.
I have been posting a lot more progress pics on social media, so make sure to check us out on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well. Occasionally Google+. Those links are at the bottom of the page.
The other big thing we've been doing is fixing up our house (we just moved in last March) and getting ready for the baby. New siding, new floors, new doors, new nursery, and a lot of baby stuff. So much baby stuff. Jaclyn has been keeping me busy.
We're having a boy and we have a name: Jackson Gregory Montgomery. He's been giving Jaclyn a hard time for the last month, so as soon as he's born he's getting grounded. That's right baby, no cell phone, no Netflix.
This will be our first child, and I think we as ready as we can be, so from what I've been told that means we're not remotely ready at all. Still, we have lots of help and we've been cutting into our backlog of orders so I think we'll be fine shipping everything on time. We're expecting Jackson to arrive later this month, so please check back in early May to see if this prediction is hilariously wrong.
I'm going to try to update the blog weekly from now on. It will include more pictures of what we're working on, small business and woodworking tips we've found useful, reviews of what we're watching on Netflix, interesting happenings on Whidbey Island, secret family recipes, and of course any updates on new designs coming out of the shop.
That's all for now. Thanks for reading our blog and for supporting small artists; it means the world to us.
